MEET THE INTERN 🤝 That’s right! Our team has a new Softball Intern for the Summer and we. are. STOKED. Get to know Sam below ⬇️ Q: What’s your sport background? A: “I have been involved with athletics since I was 5 years old. I continued playing collegiate softball at Northwest Univeristy for the last 5 years. During Summer vacations, my coaching experience has evolved by coaching several volleyball and softball clinics.” Q: So why FCA? A: “I have been inspired by this organization since I was a junior in high school. I have been an athlete and a Christian for as long as I can remember. It wasn’t until I became involved in my junior year of college that I was surrounded by amazing ladies who love Jesus and sports who were involved with FCA. This last week our teammates from all over the Pacific Northwest gathered for a Staff Summit to learn and grow better together. We worshipped together, prayed together, and trained up for this next season of ministry. 🙏 We also had an epic PNW Survivor challenge and got to make s’mores so I’d say that’s a win 🍫🔥🏆 #FCAEvery

This last Monday, our Multi-Area Director, one of our board members, an FCA Baseball parent, and one other member participated in the 2022 FCA Golf Marathon to raise funds for Greater Seattle FCA. BACK AT IT WITH OUR NEXT STAFF SPOTLIGHT!! Meet our Greater Seattle Multi-Area Director, Dave Banks. 🤝 Dave played football, basketball, and baseball in High School. He was an All State and 2x All American football player in High School who went on to play D1 football at Marshall University as a Tight End. He then coached Defensive Line for 13 years at Nathan Hale HS in Seattle. Dave's greatest joy in FCA is seeing individuals grow in their relationship with Christ and to see the development of the Seattle team. He has been married for 38 years and has 4 children. SAY HEYYY JJ !! 📢 This week’s staff spotlight goes to our UW Collegiate Director, JJ Breilh 🐾🎉 Get to know JJ below and make sure to give him a S/O! ⬇️ "I enjoy getting the chance to grab lunch or coffee with a student athlete and getting to hear what is actively going on in their life and how that is impacting their personal journey of understanding who God is. I grew up a sports junkie - predominantly playing basketball, baseball, and golf. I chose to attend Pepperdine University, not for sports, but to better understand the sports business world and the network the greater Los Angeles area had to offer. It was only after pursuing sports business and sponsorships in LA and Dallas that God had pulled me back to Seattle for the purpose of pursuing relational discipleship with college students and lead me to integrate faith and sports with students at such a transformative time in their lives." JJ's life verse is Hebrews 12:1-2. "I love that we get to run a race each day for the Lord and we get to bring others alongside us in this journey. We get to focus our attention and hearts to the one who already won the race. I don't think I can think of a better tie or correlation to doing work with athletes and coaches with FCA!" #FCAEvery

Wrestling is, in my opinion, parallel to our Christian walk. You have a coach, you have Jesus. You have a team, you have a church congregation. You have an opponent who is trying to take you down, you have the devil trying to take you out. The more you listen to your coach, the more likely you will be victorious. I have played basketball for about 20 years. I played at Junior College in California (Chaffey College), Concordia University Portland, and Professionally for two years in Langen, Germany (TV Langen). I have also coached at my high school and in Germany.” Chris' life verse is Isaiah 12:2. "I chose this verse because it is putting my trust into God and not giving into the fears that haunt me daily. It also continues to mention how God is our strength and defense through everything. This fits into my role specifically within FCA because I coach the importance of offense and defense not only in basketball, but in life too. But competition is at its best when it involves sacrificing inward pursuits for a greater good. We all need greater purpose and meaning in our lives. When we see a much bigger picture 📸 of what’s in store for us, everything changes when we finally understand that our mission is ultimately tied to a relationship with Christ. 🙏 #fcapursue #pursuemission

It’s been a hard year and a half. We’re weary, uncertain, frustrated and disappointed. Summer may have given us a brief reprieve, but now, as we begin another school year, we wonder where we’ll be with classes, and whether we’ll get our full sports season and the chance to compete with our friends and teammates. For all who wonder what the upcoming school year will bring, know this: God’s got you, no matter what. Many things are still up in the air, but there are truths that remain certain. ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ God's in Control 💪 God doesn’t miss a thing and is exactly where He has always been: in control. “He existed before anything else, and He holds all creation together.” - Colossians 1:17 God is Good 🙌 God is closer than we can imagine, working all things for our good. “The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes.
